SPECIAL FUNDRAISER EVENT

Young-Tiranno Duo

An Evening of Chamber Music

in Support of the Zia Singers

The Young-Tiranno Duo was formed in 2018 by violinist/pianist Elizabeth Young-Tiranno and tenor John Tiranno. Both artists spent many years in New York City, performing in famed concert halls and with renowned ensembles around the world. Accomplished in their individual careers, they joined forces as a duo to perform their unique and varied repertoire, which includes Bach, Biber, Nico Muhly, Freddie Mercury, and everything in between. They are most frequently heard in New York and across New Mexico, with ensembles such as the Santa Fe Symphony, Chatter, the Santa Fe Opera, Santa Fe Pro Musica, Opera Southwest, and others. John and Elizabeth live in Santa Fe but continue to perform throughout the United States.

We would be delighted to have you join us for a special house concert featuring the Young–Tiranno Duo.

This exceptional duo pairs Zia Singers’ own Artistic Director and tenor, John Tiranno, with his wife, Elizabeth Young, an accomplished violinist and pianist. Together, they bring a rich musical partnership shaped by years of performing in renowned concert halls and with distinguished ensembles in New York City and around the world.

Today, John and Elizabeth share their artistry through a unique and captivating repertoire that blends voice, violin, and piano. Their performances are frequently heard in New York, and across New Mexico, where they collaborate with celebrated organizations including the Santa Fe Symphony, Chatter, Santa Fe Opera, Santa Fe Pro Musica, Opera Southwest, and more.

The evening will include a selection of hearty hors d’oeuvres, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages, creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere in a private, beautiful Santa Fe home.

All ticket proceeds directly support the Zia Singers. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on ticket sales and the generosity of supporters like you to sustain our musical programs and bring choral music to our community.

Elizabeth Young is a violinist and passionate arts leader based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. After graduating from The Manhattan School of Music, she built a dynamic performance career, appearing frequently at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, with other notable performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Radio City Music Hall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The United Nations, and The National Gallery of Art. She has appeared on the BBC, CBS, and CNN and performed concerts throughout the United States and in Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, and Oman.

After a decade in New York City, Elizabeth relocated to Santa Fe, where she has made a lasting impact on the region’s cultural life. As a violinist, she performs with many of the area’s top ensembles, including The Santa Fe Opera, Chatter, The Santa Fe Symphony, Santa Fe Pro Musica, and as Associate Concertmaster of The New Mexico Philharmonic. When The Santa Fe Symphony successfully acquired The Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association in 2024, Elizabeth was tapped to lead the newly merged organization’s education and community initiatives. In a short time, she has created numerous new programs for students during and after school, supported local schools and music classes, expanded community access to orchestral experiences, and provided meaningful support to music educators. These efforts are in line with her vision of making high-quality music education accessible to everyone in the community. Elizabeth’s work in education has earned her meaningful accolades - most recently the Santa Fe Public Schools “Teachers Who Inspire” Award and the NM ASTA “Hats! Off” award, for her support of music education and educators in Santa Fe through her role at The Santa Fe Symphony.

As a member of The Young-Tiranno Duo, Elizabeth often collaborates with her husband, Zia Singers’ Artistic Director John Tiranno, and she writes unique arrangements for their blend of violin and voice from a wide variety of repertoire. Elizabeth has been a featured guest artist with The Zia Singers in the last two seasons and loves working with such a joyful, committed, and strong group of women!
